Roland has developed some creative ideas of his own in this garden, most notably the xeriscape mound by the swimming pool; sculptural elements of tree trunks and braches that also provide wildlife habitat; fruit trees and shrubs combined with an ornamental herbaceous underlayer of perennials and grasses; numerous visual and noise buffers on the perimeters using berms, Christmas trees, bamboo, and other evergreens; and an organic vegetable garden.
