Linden Heights United Methodist Church Parkville, MD completed 1997		Linden Heights United Methodist Church Parkville , MD completed 1997 Roland designed the garden around this church after a large addition was added to the main building. The garden consists of two main entries, three smaller entries, one semienclosed courtyard, plantings around the buildings, evergreen buffer trees along the street, and flowering and shading deciduous trees throughout the property.
Sensing the disconnect of the existing space around the buildings with its surroundings, Roland decided to design the framework of the garden as a eastern coastal plain native plant community with most of the woody plants being native. This would connect the garden and the church to its larger landscape. The herbaceous plants are a mixture of some native plants and ornamentals. The whole garden provides beauty and interest throughout the year with flowers, movement of swaying grasses, berries, visual and noise buffer from the two adjoining roads, and a peaceful place to sit outside in the courtyard.
